We all dread the idea of having to suffer hunger just because we have some weight to lose. Of course, this is even worse if you need to get rid of a lot of weight. And no one would be surprised to learn of your apprehension. The sad part is that the majority of people are not aware that it is possible to lose weight without hunger. Also, they don’t know that being hungry all the time may actually interfere with weight loss. Most people are familiar with the concept that the human body has a way of protecting itself against starvation. What most folks may not realize is how strong this ability of the human body to protect itself against starvation actually is. In fact it’s strong enough to change the body’s metabolic rate, to slow it down so that less energy (calories) is consumed. And this happens even though the dieter is hungry because of his efforts to lose weight. So how do you make sense of this? The reality is that your body interprets your hunger as lack of available food and therefore prepares itself to prevent you from starving to death. It may not make sense to you, but the problem is that your body has no way of knowing that you are purposely causing the hunger in order to lose weight. Therefore, your body does everything it can to conserve fuel, and not use up what it considers precious fat! Is that ironic or what? While you are suffering hunger to lose weight, your body is using its powerful survival mechanism to conserve fuel, the fat you are trying to get rid of! However, your body can maintain the same weight only for so long in the face of your continued deprivation of food. So finally your body makes a sudden adjustment, and lets your weight drop for maybe two or three pounds overnight. You will then experience another period of no weight loss at this lower level. Now your body can successfully conserve energy again since your body is smaller by those two or three pounds it shed. So the frustration on your part begins again. Since you are strong and stubborn in your dieting, in spite of the constant hunger, you end up losing a fair amount of weight, bringing you pretty much to your weight target. You now enjoy a thinner you. But now that you lost all the weight you wanted to lose, it’s time to put an end to the hunger so you go back to your comfortable eating habits, although you are careful not to over eat. After a while you have forgotten the rigors and pain of your diet, life is comfortable and you continue on your merry way. But then one day you discover that you have not only put on extra weight, but you have actually gone beyond where you were when you started dieting. At this point, it would be comforting and desirable for you to learn that there is another avenue open to you to try and once and for all get rid of unwanted fat. And the best part is that this method does not require you to ever be hungry at all. This new magic way (or so it may seem to you) requires two things to work: 1. You can’t starve yourself again, you have to consume more food. Starvation levels cannot be maintained for long. Furthermore, it is neither physically nor mentally desirable to starve yourself. Another big, but pleasant change is that you have to eat five to six small meals every day. Therefore, you are never hungry, even as your weight is steadily decreasing. 2. There are some basic facts about food that you need to learn, namely, there are many delicious foods that you can eat to full satisfaction, but there are other foods that you must stay away from at all costs. This eating regimen will require some effort at first. You have to train yourself and learn to adjust your schedule so that you can eat five to six small meals each day. But the end result will be that your fat will magically melt away over a relatively short period of time, and you will never have to force yourself to be hungry again. You will actually make changes that amount to a new lifestyle, a healthy lifestyle where you will keep your weight under control all the time without any painful effort. Your family and friends will be amazed at the in your appearance that took place right before their eyes. You will be in a position to share what you did and how you did it with those that will be interested in duplicating your feat. ABOUT ME I retired from Eastman Kodak Co. after 30 years of service. My current interests are in online marketing, and specifically making money online, and weight loss. My interest in weight loss started after I lost between 75 and 80 pounds in just under six months. I learned a lot about nutrition and how to lose weight in the six months that it took me to lose all that weight.

Want To Fight Free Radicals? Then Give The Xanthophyll Lutein A Try
January 15th, 2012 § 0
Lutein is a xanthophyll and phytonutrient (plant based chemical compounds that have numerous health benefits in humans). It is a potent antioxidant that is mainly found in green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach. In this article I will be taking a deeper look at lutein and discussing its main health benefits. 1) HEALTH BENEFITS: As mentioned above, lutein is an antioxidant that can keep your body’s cells safe from dangerous free radicals. Provisional studies indicate that this xanthophyll may also protect the eyes from cataracts (clouding on the lenses of the eyes), macular degeneration and photophobia (a condition where your eyes become very sensitive to light). In addition to this, it may prevent atherosclerosis (a condition where hard plaques build up on your artery walls and prevent proper blood flow), cancer (a health disorder where your body’s cells start to grow in a rapid, out of control way), heart disease and ultraviolet (UV) damage. However, additional studies are needed before these possible benefits can be confirmed. 2) RECOMMENDED DAILY ALLOWANCE (RDA): Lutein is not classed as an essential nutrient so no official RDA has been set. However, a number of sources recommend consuming between 6 milligrams (mg) and 10mg of this natural nutrient every day to boost your health. 3) FOOD SOURCES: Green leafy vegetables are an excellent food source of lutein with collards (7.7mg per 100 grams (g)), kale (18.2mg per 100g), mustard greens (6mg per 100g), parsley (5.6mg per 100g), spinach (12.2mg per 100g) and turnip greens (8.4mg per 100g) being some of the top sources. 4) DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS: Humans can survive without lutein so there are no official deficiency symptoms associated with its consumption. Some studies have suggested that a long term deficiency of this xanthophyll may also lead to chronic diseases and increase your chances of macular degeneration. However, there are no studies available to back these claims. 5) OVERDOSE SYMPTOMS: Natural lutein is safe for human consumption. However, consuming high levels of lutein supplements can cause carotenemia (a health disorder that causes your skin to turn orange). Fortunately, carotenemia is not harmful and can be reversed by lowering your consumption of this xanthophyll. 1 study has also indicated that ingesting too many lutein supplements might cause lung cancer although the validity of this study has been challenged by many experts. 6) SUMMARY: Although a lot of the benefits discussed in this article still need to be fully confirmed you should definitely make sure you are eating your greens. Green leafy vegetables supply your body with large amounts of this xanthophyll along with a wide range of other health benefits. How To Activate That Brown Fat For Natural Weight Loss
January 14th, 2012 § 0
Brown fat is among the most powerful elements to promote natural, faster weight reduction. If you are seeking to destroy that excess fat you’ve wanted to drop for so long then listen up. Studies show that many of us with higher amounts of brown fat rather than white fat, are less obese compared to those people that have a higher amount of white fat. The reason being that brown fat features a natural ability to destroy fat by burning calories, it’s natural energetic characteristic. The question most people wish to know is “How do you really active brown fat to help make you more lean?” There are several ways for you to do this right after looking over this article, so you’re able to start improving your fat burning dramatically and immediately. I’ve put together four steps you can take to naturally active your brown fat levels, so how about we get into it. Decrease Your Stress Did you know there is a huge link between stress and fat build up? The main reason is that stress limits the amount of brown fat you posses within you, which limits your power to naturally destroy fat. Therefore I suggest you limit your stress levels by making little changes in your everyday lifestyle. A good example of this can be to improve your sleep levels and be careful not to hurt your body by failing to get enough sleep. Sleep is considered as a major link to stress so if you could get healthy degrees of sleep each night, your whole body will reward you and fight alongside you as part of your battle against body fat. Decreasing Portion Size Of Meals In order to activate more brown fat within your body, you need to be smart concerning your meals and just how you eat them. Being careful with what you take in isn’t really enough these days, because you must have smart meal planning alongside it. Listen to your body and stay smart concerning how you eat. When I say listen to your own body, I am talking about not over-eating or under-eating by not listening to your entire body. Your whole body will provide you with signs about whether you need more food or whether you have enough food in your body. As well as being attentive to your entire body, you’ll want to plan your foods and cut the portion scale of each meals. We as humans desire to eat in large portions as it satisfies us, but our bodies disagree. To be able to activate more brown fat and promote faster weight loss, you have to raise your meals daily, but reduce the portion dimensions of each meal. This will likely allow for your body to manage food slowly throughout your entire day rather than stuffing your body with food that doesn’t allow it to produce the necessary changes for lots of food. This enables your body to naturally increase brown fat levels and also have a consistent amount at the same time. A Healthy Thyroid Means Healthier Fats As soon as your thyroid is in perfect shape it is going to naturally produce more heat and increase your ability to activate brown fat due to that heat production. The problem is that many people don’t know about their thyroid let alone how you can keep it healthy and strong. Here are several ways you can nourish your thyroid so it will be healthy and strong. 1) Drink Kombucha Elixers as well as other forms of fermented drinks 2) Follow a nourishing, herbal supplement program 3) Eat plenty of vegetables because your thyroid requires the nutrients they provide 4) Take thyroid-nourishing supplements that offer healthy nutrition and strength Don’t Over Exercise And Over Workout I’m not saying not to exercise and workout, however I am saying to be smart and tune in to your body. Yes, you’re designed to workout to muscle failure and push yourself to your limits during exercises, but this includes being smart and listening to your whole body. You understand the limitations of the body better than anyone so you’re able to push yourself to your absolute limits without burning yourself out and hurting yourself. When individuals over-exhaust themselves during workouts it does not just hurt them, but also it decreases your own body’s capability to product brown fat. Include some yoga within your Exercise Program because slow, methodical breathing also activates more brown fat naturally. You should be smart regarding your workouts and tune in to your own body, because I promise your brown fat levels will become stabilized through this. By simply utilizing these key secrets, you can activate that brown fat completely naturally without having to do anything hard or difficult. By activating that brown fat, you will see a dramatic improvement in your fat loss results in addition to your ability to reach your Fitness Goals naturally and fast. Simplifying Weight Loss: How To Do It
January 7th, 2012 § 0
It’s so tempting to want a magic fix that will allow you to lose weight easily and quickly. No matter if you need to lose five pounds or over a hundred, it’s not always very fun to put in the effort required to drop that weight. Unfortunately, losing weight is something you must be intentional about, and it does necessitate hard work. Happily, we have some great tips that will help you in your journey. Now, everyone knows that drinking at least eight glasses of water, eating healthy, and exercising is the right way to lose weight. Knowing that, however, still leaves you with a lot of questions. Hopefully, the following tips will clear some things up for you. The Tips One tip that we’ve found helpful is to add, not subtract. What that means is that some people believe that getting healthy and losing weight means that you need to completely cut out foods from your diet. Actually, it’s best to perhaps limit the amounts of certain foods, while adding in lots of healthy choices. Make sure you add in healthy foods and snacks you really love, so you don’t feel like you’re being deprived. On a related note, take recipes that you already love and tweak them to make them better for you. For instance, substitute low-fat cheese for the full fat version, or use whole wheat pasta in your spaghetti. In today’s society, portion sizes have never been more out of whack. Just take a trip through any fast food drive through and you’ll notice how big the drink cups have gotten. Some of them even require two hands to hold! Educate yourself on what an adult portion actually is. At first, it will most likely shock you, and it may take some getting used to. Keep at it, though, because consuming accurate portions will serve you in good stead. Finally, listen to your body’s cues. Most of us are full before we stop eating. The key factor in accomplishing this is slowing down and savoring your food. That way, your body has time to let you know that you’re full, and you can refrain from overeating. Pair this tip along with accurate portion sizes, and you could potentially lose weight just from those two changes. Get Moving If you really want to jump start your weight loss regimen, however, pair eating right with exercise. If you’re the type who hates exercise, start slow. Take a nice walk around your neighborhood when it’s lovely out. Perhaps you hate running and walking, so you’ve never ventured out into other activities. There are tons of activities that will get you active, and you’re sure to find something you actually enjoy doing. Maybe you’re best in the water. For you, swimming or water aerobics should be on the top of your list. Whatever you enjoy, find it, and get moving! In Conclusion Let’s face it. Losing weight takes effort and dedication. It doesn’t have to be miserable, though. If you employ these tips, you can shed those pounds while eating food you enjoy and being active in exercises you actually like doing. Weight loss is undoubtedly a difficult task. Visit for wonderful tips, tricks, diets, & exercises, all focused on getting you lean, toned, & thinner.
Raspberries Are One of the Best Weight Loss Foods You Can Eat
January 3rd, 2012 § 0
You have probably never realized just how wonderful raspberries are for your body. They are one of the single best weight loss foods that you can eat on a daily basis. Red colored raspberries taste fabulous. Meanwhile, the fruit is a rich source of natural nutrients, minerals and vitamins to benefit your body. Though raspberries are native to Europe, they are now cultivated all over the world. Producers are found all over North and South America, as well as Asia. Apparently, the whole world is learning of the numerous benefits of raspberries. The tasty fruit is low in both calories and saturated fats. Yet, raspberries contain plenty of dietary fiber and antioxidants. Fresh raspberries are an excellent source of vitamin C to help your body fight off infections, inflammation and risky free radicals. The fruit also contains plenty of other vitamins, such as vitamin A and vitamin E to protect your body against various diseases, as well as aging. At the same time, your body’s metabolism can benefit from vitamin K, vitamin B-6, niacin, riboflavin, and folic acid. Consuming raspberries protects your eyesight by effectively fighting off age-related macular degeneration (ARMD). They also contain anthocyanins, water soluble vacuolar pigments that protect your body from heart disease. The salicylic acid found in the fruit delays the hardening of your arteries. Even allergic reactions are minimized due to the antioxidant quercetin found in raspberries. There are a handful of different minerals found in raspberries. For example, the food’s potassium assists your body’s heart rate and blood pressure. Your body utilizes the copper found in raspberries to produce red blood cells. The manganese found in raspberries ensures healthy bone structure, bone metabolism, and helps build strong bones throughout your body. The fruit can also be used to extract Xylitol, a low-calorie sugar substitute that diabetics can use to control their blood sugar levels. Last, but certainly not least, the phenolic flavonoid phytochemicals making up raspberries can help to fight off inflammation and aging symptoms in general, as well as different forms of cancer. In fact, the fruit can restrain the formation of lethal tumors inside of various parts of the human body, such as the colon. While you can enjoy fresh raspberries by themselves, the produce can be used in various dishes. Throw some into a bowl and mix them with vanilla yogurt and walnuts, if not chopped pecans. Raspberries also go wonderfully in green salads, as well as a variety of breakfast cereals, like Cheerios. Best of all, frozen raspberries are fantastic when mixed with bananas and low-fat milk to create tasty smoothies. Just about every grocery store in the nation carries frozen, canned and fresh raspberries. Of course, the fresh selections of raspberries always taste the best. Farmer’s markets that allow you to pick your own weight loss foods are the smartest choice. Search for hard, plump and rich pieces of the fruit to give your body the most benefits. Steer clear of any discolored berries that have begun to mold or bruise. When it comes to storing raspberries, you can simply throw them into a fridge for a few days, but raspberries do go bad rather quickly. Since I became a middle-aged man, my belly has grown big and fat. I began to fear for my health. I asked my family doctor before I suffer a lethal heart attack. He suggested the use of powerful HCG Injections, as well as eating the right foods, such as raspberries, to see quick results. That certainly sounds easy enough. Thanks Doc!
Protein Powder With Various Advantages
January 3rd, 2012 § 0
Everybody needs protein intake in their daily food and diet because of obvious reasons of body needs. Our body runs on the power of protein powder. Our every single cell of body is made from protein powder. So we can imagine how much protein is important for us. Now that we are aware with the primary advantage of protein in our body but we should have to know that our body can’t make some amino acids which are called “non-essential amino acids”. And if we can’t fill them in proper amount then our body feels nutrition less. Those non-essential amino acids need to be taken through any external nutrients or food. But our regular food can’t full fill the daily requirements of protein. Thus we have to watch out for the nutrient like protein powder. Now we are aware of the primary importance of protein powder now. So we will go for brief importance of it now. As we know that most kind of amino acids are made by our body in it self and they are very important amino acids which help us for the growth of our body. But it can’t make an amino acids by itself which we called non-essential amino acids because we have to take them through the nutrients. Protein powder plays very important role here. It comes with all 9 types of non-essential amino acids which our body can easily absorb and helps in growth for muscles and hormones. Now there is another important system of our body is metabolism. Metabolism is the head quarter of the entire body from where all the hormones, amino acids and other important chemicals released and controlled. If metabolism system gets affected by any infection or disease then it can create serious risk for us. Now again, here is another role of protein powder; it comes with all natural ingredients which help to our metabolism works regular and in well-manner. So all the hormones can be released and controlled easily and our body can grow up in right direction. It is also helpful for our immune system. Protein powder accelerates the power of our immune system. Because of this acceleration, our body can’t be affected easily with any kind of bacteria and we can live our life smoothly. The main organic compounds of our body are carbohydrates, fat and sugar. Our body needs all these but in a controlled way. If the carbohydrates are being taken in a high amount, then they accelerate the process of conversion of glucose in blood sugar. In that case, blood sugar level raises which affects our immune system and metabolism system. Disease like diabetes can occur and if it enters in body once, it would be very tough to get rid from it. So again protein powder comes in picture here. It is available with low carbs and natural sweetened stevia. There is no artificial alternative of sugar like sucrose which have high amount of fat and carb. So blood sugar level becomes normal and you do not have to worry. As we know, protein powder comes with all natural ingredients, amount of fat and cholesterol is low. And that’s why the fat storing process becomes very slow and fat burning process gets acceleration. So your stored fat can be removed slowly with the help of protein powder. There is no risk to increase the cholesterol in blood because it comes with low amount of cholesterol and it removes the stored cholesterol too. Now it becomes easy for all the reader to understand the major importance of protein powder. For More Information: |
You’ve Seen This Movie Before
January 1st, 2012 § 0
Control Your Health Habits So They Won’t Control You During the holiday season, when it’s cold outside and the golf course is drifted with snow, I begin to focus more on the kinds of fun you can have indoors. I’m referring, of course, to going to the movies. (What did you think I was talking about?) With the cinema season on the top of my mind, yet ever-mindful of my health habits (as well as those of my coaching clients, whether they own a business or carry out a different kind of leadership mission), I was intrigued to read about a study reported earlier this year in the “Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.” Researchers studied popcorn consumption by movie patrons, and their findings were interesting. By now, you’re thinking “Really?” But yes, I’m not making this up. There really is an academic journal for everything, and researchers really do study every aspect of human behavior! Remember, every doctoral student has to dream up something about which they can write a dissertation… and finding something that hasn’t already been done to death is not as easy as it might sound. Here’s what they did in the popcorn study: subjects entered the theater, and some were given a bucket of fresh, just-popped popcorn; others got a bucket of stale, week-old popcorn. Those patrons who don’t usually go for popcorn at the movies ate much less of the stale stuff than they did of the fresh stuff. However, those who typically do have popcorn at the movies ate about the same amount, whether the popcorn was fresh or stale. The researchers’ conclusion? When you make food choices, your brain is susceptible to environmental cues. If you’ve made a habit of eating a certain food in a certain environment, your brain associates one with the other, and you keep eating as long as those environmental cues are present. These findings might not shock you. Ever try to stop drinking coffee at your desk, or forgo that favorite crispy snack you always go for at break time? It’s almost like you’d feel cheated if you didn’t get your regular dose of certain foods. When bad habits become habits, I refer to this as your urges controlling you. The only prescription is to reverse things, and start controlling your urges. And the best way to do that, in my experience, is simply to replace one habit with another and repeat for about 21 straight days. People who knew and worked with me years ago would’ve known I loved coffee – all day long – and always loaded my cup with sugar and creamer. Someone told me back in those days that, if I ever got used to drinking coffee black, I’d never go back to the sugary beverage: “It’ll just taste nasty to you.” Of course, I didn’t believe her. Then, several years ago, I became convinced that my sugary caffeine was very bad for me, and I forced myself to drink decaf, exclusively with real cream. And a few weeks back, I put my old friend’s assertion to the test by “decorating” a cup of coffee the way I used to do all the time. She was right: I couldn’t get the stuff down! What you put into your body has a major impact on what you can expect to get out of it in terms of energy, vitality, and performance… and this includes mental performance, for those of you (like some of my clients) who think you can operate as a highly-functioning “brain on a stick.” You can’t. You need to take care of the organism that’s doing the thinking and deciding in your business or mission. And good nutrition is only one of five key daily health habits I call “The NEWSS” – Nutrition, Exercise (get your 3-6 workouts a week), Water (two liters a day), Sleep (eight hours a night), and Supplements (take at least one good daily multi-nutrient). Intuitively, you know where you have garbage that can be cut out of your diet… and you’re probably aware that replacing a bad habit with a good one for three weeks will do the trick. Do the trick! You want to live a long, happy, vital life. If you don’t like the movie you’re currently starring in, change it. As your own best critic, you’ll agree that a healthier lifestyle deserves two enthusiastic thumbs up! by Michael D. Hume, M.S. Coconut Oil Diet – Is It Healthy?
January 1st, 2012 § 0
Thousands of people are getting wonderful results just by including coconut oil into their diets. It has been acknowledged as an exceptional medium helping people lose weight. Furthermore, its qualities improve the immune functions of the body; prevent heart disease, diabetes, cancer and much more. It contains a great number of medium chained triglycerides (mcts). This is a saturated fat with unique qualities, which is carried directly to the liver after consumption. Other types of fat first enter the bloodstream and are circulated in the body before reaching the liver. This gives these simple fats more opportunity to be stored as fat in the body. Mcts are immediately burned for energy and are not stored as body fat. Because coconut oil has a large percentage of saturated fats, it has been shunned for years as a part of any diet. As a saturated fat, nutritionists were taught to believe that it was bad for your cholesterol. This was really sad, as it was eventually proved to be a very healthy type of oil. Various studies during recent years have also proven that coconut oil is among the safest and most stable oils for cooking. It is neutral oil filled with omega 3 fatty acids. Dieting, Per Se Does Not Work. Fashion diets with extremely low-calorie counts, will cause quick weight loss, burning muscle and getting rid of lots of water quickly. However, once your body realizes what is happening to it, it will start storing fat, and the craving will start! You will start eating a lot of sugar and (unhealthy) high-carbohydrate foods. You know it is wrong, but you cannot help it as it is the body’s natural defense mechanism to keep it from starving and you will start gaining weight again. You are now in the so-called yo-yo diet cycle. The coconut oil diet was inspired from cultures where people’s eating habits were formed over hundreds of years without any concern about sugar, carbohydrate or protein content. Because of the abundance of coconut oil in these countries, coconut oil formed a large part of their diet, which also included some dairy products, fish, meat and vegetables. The coconut was used in many forms such as; cooking oil, fresh grated coconut to make sauces, curries and pastes. The coconut oil diet is very similar to a very well-known low-carbohydrate diet, with some coconut oil variations added as the main source of fat. It follows that it will be very effective in loosing weight while enhancing the function of the thyroid. While this diet is also a low-carbohydrate, no sugar type of diet, it emphasizes foods rich in protein like red meat, pork, chicken, eggs, cheese and nuts. The diet starts with a very strict induction phase. This will help to change your body’s carbohydrate-burning metabolism over to a fat burning metabolism (your body fat!). This will stabilize your blood sugar level and halt a myriad other symptoms indicative of unstable blood sugar such as fatigue, mood swings, etc. This induction phase lasts a maximum of fourteen days, after which you will already notice a significant loss in weight. There is much more to the induction phase than this simplified version demonstrates, but suffice it to say this is an exceptionally important part of the diet. It primarily changes your body chemistry, teaching it to obtain its energy mainly from the fats you ingest. Furthermore, the induction phase of the coconut oil diet allows no deviation from the recommended foods. It stresses low carbohydrate content with two to three spoons of coconut oil added to all meals. The next phase, over a period of four to five weeks, focuses on detoxification of the colon and other organs of the body. The last two phases are for slow reintroduction of carbohydrates and weight maintenance I have been using a low-carbohydrate “diet” for many years(it is more than a diet, it is a lasting change in your eating habits!) and I am on a “lifetime maintenance plan” since that first completion of my course. My weight remains constant within a few pounds and at 70 I am as healthy as a frog in a pond! I can, therefore, positively and confidently recommend this way of eating to you Go to >>> to get your free Coconut Oil Diet eBook and Coconut Oil Recipes and make a positive change to you health and weight. How to Increase Your Body’s Metabolism
December 31st, 2011 § 0
You must have heard people saying something about how fast or slow metabolic rates affect a person’s weight. Simply put, the metabolic rate is the rate in which your body burns the calories that you ingest from the food that you eat. There are no buts or ifs about the fact that if you eat more calories than you burn, you will not lose any weight and will in fact just make you put on more pounds, and probably all in the wrong places. Then the question is how to lose weight fast? In order to do this, there are certain things that you have to understand in order not to become frustrated and load on more pounds in the process. Some of these you can control and others you cannot. • Heredity – the genes that you inherited have predetermined your metabolic rate. With these things in mind, is there anything that you can do to increase your metabolism and to lose weight fast? People who want to lose weight fast often go on a starvation mode, thinking that if they do not load on any calories they will really lose weight. Depriving your body of what it needs to maintain it will only make it go on a survival mode. This will only slow down your metabolism and make your body store more calories in the form of fat to protect itself from starving. Malnutrition is never the solution to losing weight and in fact may even pose a health hazard, in the long run. Instead, you may wish to do the following to naturally boost your body’s metabolism. • Eat – Eat a good breakfast. The body metabolism slows down during sleep and does not kick back in until you eat the following morning. Researches have shown that those who do eat breakfast tend to lose more weight than those who skip it altogether. However, make sure that you eat a balanced breakfast consisting of fruits, grains, boiled eggs, etc. Keep away from the jams, jellies, butter, the waffles and the pancakes. Eat smaller meals throughout the day and do not starve yourself. Keeping your metabolism revved up will help you avoid eating binges; • Drink – Water and green tea, that is… The compounds in green tea speed up your metabolic rate and increases energy expenditure leading to weight loss. Drinking six to eight glasses of water should help flush out the toxins from your body. • Exercise – This allows the body to burn more calories than body fat. A good exercise regimen will put the body metabolism into overdrive, making you burn more calories for as long as two hours after the workout. Aven Guan is a professional health consultant. If you want to learn more about , visit his website.
• Gender – the males of the specie, generally, are able to burn off more calories faster than the females because they have more muscle tissues in their bodies.
• Age – the older you get, the slower your metabolic rate becomes.
• Medical condition – if you suffer from a thyroid disorder, an overactive one will make you lose weight fast while an underactive one will make you put on weight.
Holiday Weight Management: Stay Slim During The Holidays
December 19th, 2011 § 0
As the holidays come around, whether it’s Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, Memorial Day or even Valentine’s, when you know there’s even a slight chance that cake, ice cream, chocolate and fried foods (yes, fried turkey included) will be involved in your day, you may start to feel some anxiety with regard to how you’ll make it through with your diet and weight management intact. For many of us, the holidays tend to be difficult because food is everywhere and it seems as though temptation is lurking around every corner. To add insult to injury, people give you more fattening food as gifts and you can’t just turn it down. Can you? So how do you get through the holidays with your body weight in place? If you know a few key tips, holiday weight management is much easier than you may think. 1) Design An Effective Workout Program: Since you likely won’t be spending quite as much time at the gym during the holidays, you want to make sure that every minute that you are in the gym counts double time. Consider doing full body workouts rather than just legs on Monday, chest – Tuesday, and back on Wednesday and so on. Also, instead of isolated movements, try compound movements. For example, instead of a bicep curl, do an underhand row. If you’re already active, you can also add in some cardio intervals. Using the treadmill, elliptical, or even jump rope can get your cardio going. If you’re not yet active, long walks will get you on the road to weight management. 2) Pre-Plan Which Meals You’ll Indulge In: I know how it goes – you start off with good intentions but somewhere between just one sip of eggnog and a slice of pecan pie, caution gets thrown to the wind and the next thing you know, it’s January 2nd and you’re looking down at the scale in horror, your weight management plan has been thrown out the window. If you’re serious about surviving the holidays, take the time to pre-plan the meals you will indulge in. Having a light, healthy snack and a large glass of water before you get to the holiday party makes gorging turn into nibbling and keeps you from packing on unwanted pounds and will assist in your weight management plans. The point is to have a plan. 3) Relax and Enjoy: Holiday guests, cooking large meals, the shopping – crowds, long lines – all add up to a certain level of unwelcome anxiety around the holidays. This tends to lead to binge eating (and drinking) to “cure” those holiday jitters. But that’s not what the holidays are about and it does nothing to help your weight management plan or keep you slim and trim over the season. Let’s try to remember that the holidays are about giving thanks for what we have – our family, friends, health, etc. – not about gifts or extravagance. Keeping that in mind will help us to say calm, focused and happy and fend off excess pounds. So keep these points in mind as you navigate through the holidays. As long as you are well prepared and stay active, you will be able to manage your weight and who knows, probably lose a few pounds. For more with a qualified professional check this out.
